Townies Slow Draft Set Up

1) There will be a HARD RIGID CONCRETE ABSOLUTE UNBREAKABLE 24 hour time limit on draft picks. Your time will start as soon as the manager before you makes their selection. If you are going to be out of town or unable to draft it is up to you to provide a list of players to someone in the league you trust. This person or agent will be allowed to make a selection for you. IF you do not leave a list with a surrogate and are unable to make your pick you will get whatever free agent tops ESPN waiver wire list. If you would like to submit a set of rankings to be used in place of ESPN's default feel free to email a copy to me and will use that in case you are absent. No crying about this later by anyone. It is clear and easy. NOTE: Be sure if you are up in 5 picks make sure your list for your surrogate includes atleast 5 players....if you are up in 10 picks include at least 10 players etc.

2) For each round I will start a separate thread on the Townies message board. When it is your turn you go to the current round's thread and post your selection. I will try to place players on the appropriate teams soon after they are picked so you can simply use the Free Agent Pool to see who is available. However, it will ultimately be impossible to do this in real time so please check the last few picks prior to yours to ensure you are not selecting a player who is not available. If you select a player that is not available you will be emailed and asked to select again. At this point you will have 24 hours from the time of that email to make a selection. If you do this twice in a row we will take the next player highest on ESPN or your ranking list and move on.

3) ONLY PLAYERS IN ESPN'S PLAYER POOL ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE DRAFTED.

4) After you make your selection you must email the league and inform the manager after you that it is their turn. The draft order for each round will be post in the first message of the thread so you will know who is up next. Do not worry about contacting the person individually. Simply email everyone who your pick was and what manager is up next.

5) The slow draft is set to start on this coming Monday. 3/2/09 at 7:00 AM EST.

6) Because the draft is starting sooner than expected ALL KEEPERS must be submitted by 12:00 PM EST on 3/1/09. All trades must be accepted by this time as well. Any trades accepted after this time WILL BE VOIDED. Per article III of our constitution modified to reflect the time sensitivity of this deadline - If an owner fails to submit keepers before the deadline that owner will be reprimanded by the league and will not be allowed to make any roster changes (i.e. no drops/adds/trades) for a time after the draft; this time will be one week for each hour after the deadline. So get the keepers in early. Simply post them on the league message board OR email them to me as soon as you can. THOSE ARE THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS FOR SUBMITTING KEEPERS. ALSO YOU ARE REQUIRED TO DROP ALL NON KEEPERS BY 12:00 PM ON 3/1/09 - Failure to do so will result in the above outline reprimand.

7) NO TRADING CAN TAKE PLACE AFTER THE KEEPER DEADLINE OR DURING THE DRAFT. If you would like to work out a deal with someone it will have to be posted and voted on AFTER the draft. NO trades during because we have to have a review process.

AND FINALLY - It is impossible to account for every twist and turn while doing this. It is a new thing for the league and so if a problem occurs the LM's will consult with the league and then make a final decision. Any powers not expressly given to the Commissioners in this document reside with the Commissioners.

Guys, I have provided a link to the ESPN home page and a link to this forum below. Please be sure to bookmark these for easy access and also please read the rules posted on the forum.
I have set up the first two rounds with threads but it is time consuming so the whole draft will take me a day or so to set up. Once it is set up you can easily see what selections were made and what picks are coming up. I believe this will be better than ESPN for many reason:

1) I can lock the threads so no editing can be done once a round is closed
2) I can see ANY edits made. On ESPN you can make changes without an edit being recorded.
3) We will have a double recording of our draft - one when you make your pick and the second when I enter the player into ESPN rosters. In case either site has problems we will have a back up.

HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT LINKS:

DRAFT AND KEEPER FORUM

You will make ALL draft picks on this forum and will also post your keepers here.

ESPN HOME PAGE

We will use the ESPN free agent pool to keep up with available players. PLEASE be sure to check the round or so of picks prior to yours just to make sure I have entered everyone. I will try to keep on top of it but inevitably this can not be done in real time so you will need to help me out.

Alright, I think I have everything set up and I am looking forward to trying this experiment. Let me know if you have ANY questions and lets get this going!!

So our draft will be done March 20, assuming we have 19 rounds to go through. This will be interesting, but I think it's a cool, nice twist.

I hope so. It will depend on how fast everyone picks - they do have 24 hours. BUT for most of the league we should just buzz through the rounds. Hibbs is in NZ so his time will be very different than ours....and Clams...is well Clams....so who knows.

ALL PICKS UPDATED TO REFLECT ANY AND ALL TRADES ACCEPTED AS OF 2/28/09 at 9 AM.
